Chordora is a music collaboration platform designed for beatmakers, loopmakers, producers, vocalists, and artists who want to discover talent, share tracks, collect feedback, and create music together online.

The web application brings music discovery, creator profiles, audio playback, collaboration requests, feedback, and community interaction into one focused experience. Its interface was designed to support creative work without overwhelming users with complicated tools or crowded screens.

Chordora Music Collaboration Platform Overview

Music creation often requires several people to work across different platforms. Producers may share tracks through cloud storage, discuss changes in messaging apps, collect feedback through email, and publish finished work somewhere else.

This fragmented process can make it difficult to keep music files, comments, collaborators, and creative decisions connected.

Chordora was designed as a central music platform where creators can explore productions, build profiles, organise tracks, request feedback, and connect with people who are available to collaborate.

The Product Design Challenge

The main challenge was to combine music discovery, audio playback, social engagement, and creative collaboration without making the interface feel crowded.

A music platform contains a large amount of information, including cover artwork, track titles, creators, genres, instruments, comments, waveforms, playback controls, and collaboration statuses.

The design needed to help users:

• Discover new music and creators
• Play tracks while browsing the platform
• Filter productions by genre or instrument
• Like, save, repost, and comment on music
• Upload tracks and samples
• Request feedback from other creators
• Find artists who are open to collaboration
• Build a recognisable music profile

Our Music Web App Design Approach

Dark and Focused User Interface

Chordora uses a dark interface that keeps album artwork, creator imagery, audio waveforms, and bright action controls easy to recognise.

The restrained background reduces visual noise, while high-contrast text and green action elements guide users towards important buttons and playback controls.

Cards, lists, filters, profiles, and comment sections follow a consistent spacing system. This gives users a predictable experience as they move between discovery, collections, profiles, and collaboration screens.

Persistent Music Player

A persistent audio player remains available at the bottom of the main interface.

Users can view the current track, follow playback progress, control volume, move between tracks, and access engagement actions without leaving the page they are browsing.

This supports continuous listening while users explore new releases, review creator profiles, manage their collections, or read feedback.

Simple Navigation and Search

The main navigation provides direct access to Home, Explore, Settings, and Profile sections.

A global search field helps users find music and creators, while filters allow them to narrow productions by relevant categories. Clear labels and consistent icons make the platform easier to learn and navigate.

Personalised Music Onboarding

Chordora includes a guided onboarding flow that collects information about each user’s music preferences.

Users can choose preferred genres and moods. These selections can help the platform create a more relevant discovery experience from the beginning.

Genre Preferences

The genre selection interface includes categories such as classical, folk, blues, jazz, indie, reggae, rock, country, hip-hop, R&B, funk, and pop.

Visual cards make each option easy to scan, while a counter shows how many genres have been selected.

Mood Preferences

Users can also choose music moods such as energetic, chill, happy, melancholic, romantic, and groovy.

This gives music discovery another layer of personalisation beyond standard genre categories. A visible progress indicator also explains where the user is within the onboarding process.

Personalised Home Dashboard

The home dashboard brings together recent updates, new releases, recommendations, and promoted creator profiles.

Users can play tracks directly from music cards and interact with content through familiar actions. The layout helps returning users review recent activity while discovering creators outside their existing network.

Explore Productions

The production explorer displays tracks in a searchable list with duration, waveform previews, playback controls, and engagement options.

Genre and instrument filters help users narrow the results and find productions that match a specific sound or creative requirement.

An artist could use this section to find a suitable beat, while a producer could use it to discover vocalists, loopmakers, or other creators working in a related genre.

Creator Profiles and Music Collections

Creator profiles combine identity, creative role, collaboration status, achievements, music collections, and playlists.

A visible availability status helps other users understand whether a creator is currently open to new collaborations.

The profile also gives creators a dedicated space to present their catalogue, display their work, and build credibility through consistent activity and community recognition.

Collection Management

The collection area helps users organise their productions in a clear and structured list.

Track titles, creator information, duration, listening activity, and common actions are presented consistently. Users can quickly return to their work, play a production, save content, or continue a related conversation.

Track Upload and Collaboration

The collaboration interface allows users to upload a track or sample, add a title and description, and control who can view the content.

Creators can review comments, identify interested collaborators, reply to feedback, and monitor engagement from the same screen.

Creator roles and collaboration availability labels make it easier to understand who is participating and whether they are open to working together.

Feedback Requests

A dedicated feedback screen allows users to select uploaded tracks or samples and collect responses from other music creators.

Each response can include a playable audio reference, written feedback, and threaded replies. This keeps the discussion close to the music instead of separating feedback into unrelated conversations.

Creators can use this workflow to collect opinions about melody, lyrics, production quality, arrangement, vocals, and the overall direction of a track.

Community and Engagement Tools

Chordora includes social actions that make music discovery more interactive.

Users can like tracks, save music, repost productions, leave comments, reply to feedback, and follow creators. Promoted profiles can also help users find beatmakers, loopmakers, rappers, vocalists, and other artists.

Design System and Usability

The platform uses reusable interface components, including music cards, profile sections, filters, status labels, buttons, comment threads, navigation controls, and audio playback actions.

The interface was designed using Figma, supporting reusable components, organised screen flows, and collaborative design reviews.
