01 · Overview

A custom manufacturing ERP and dual-channel B2B commerce platform for RWD Innovative Specialty Trims, a US maker of color-matched window trim. One system now carries every order from quote through production and freight to invoice, replacing four to five disconnected tools..

Overview

We built a custom manufacturing ERP for RWD Trim. RWD Innovative Specialty Trims is a US company. It makes color-matched trim for window and door replacement. Its trim matches the colors of more than 50 window and door brands. Installers across the country use it every day.

RWD sells in two ways. Trade buyers order through a B2B portal. Other buyers order through a public web store. Every order is made to order on the mill floor. Since 2021, our team has designed, built and run the platform behind all of this. It is a manufacturing ERP and B2B store in one. It takes an order from quote to production, then to freight, then to invoice. No one has to type the same data twice.

The Challenge

Before this project, the order flow ran across four or five tools. None of them talked to each other. This caused real problems for the team.

  • Some orders shipped without an invoice. Shipping and billing lived in different tools.
  • Sales reps chased leads who had already bought.
  • Pallet weights were guessed. So freight was often billed wrong.
  • The quote screen had one price list. But each buyer needed their own prices and terms.
  • The production plan lived in a spreadsheet. The shop floor could not see it.

RWD did not need another tool. It needed one manufacturing ERP that fit the way it works.

Our Solution: Quote to Cash in One System

We mapped the full life of an order. Then we built each step into one platform.

  1. Order. The buyer gets a quote on their own price tier and terms. They can order in the portal or the web store.
  2. Production. The order goes to a staff member on the schedule. The system works out the box and pallet plan.
  3. Freight. The team prints a packing slip and a QR sticker. A phone scan records the real pallet weight.
  4. Cash. The buyer pays by card or ACH. The system handles fees, settlement and aged invoices.

Key Features of the Manufacturing ERP

Sell: Two Channels, One Order Book

  • A B2B portal with prices per customer, bulk discount tiers and payment terms.
  • A public web store with guest checkout and sign-in without a password.
  • Quotes, drafts, split orders and repeat orders. Repeat orders update prices and charge on their own.
  • Parent and child company links, so head offices can pay for their branches.
  • Tax-exempt forms are tracked, with a reminder before they expire.
  • An order API, so large accounts can send orders from their own systems.

Make and Ship

  • A production board that gives each order to a staff member.
  • Box and pallet plans are worked out for each order.
  • QR freight stickers. Anyone can log a pallet weight from a phone, with no login.
  • Packing slips and freight classes are made inside the system.
  • Raw stock is tracked by vendor code. It is used up per order and reordered with a purchase order.

Get Paid and Run the Business

  • Card and ACH payments, fees, refunds, settlement checks and aged invoice reports.
  • Leads come in from social ads, the website and the phone. Each lead is scored and sent to the right rep.
  • A staff time clock with auto clock-out, paid leave, sick days, leave approval and file storage.
  • Sales reports by period, state, product and customer. The system flags sudden drops and emails reports on a schedule.

Integrations

A manufacturing ERP is only as good as the tools it connects to. This one links to ten outside systems. These include WooCommerce, card and ACH payments, UPS and ShipStation for freight, and Avalara for tax. It also uses SendGrid for email, Twilio for text messages, OpenPhone, Google Maps and AWS S3. QR codes are made in the system and scanned on a phone.

Results

We measured these numbers on the live database in August 2026.

  • $37.3M in orders processed since launch.
  • 15,180 orders shipped across both sales channels.
  • 1,445 customer accounts.
  • 66,704 rolls of trim shipped in one year.
  • 2,711 leads captured and routed.
  • 12 parts of the business and 2 sales channels now share one order book.

The new manufacturing ERP replaced four or five tools. The team no longer has to match the web store and the portal by hand each month. Every buyer gets the right quote from one screen. Pallet weights are now measured, not guessed. Raw stock and labor costs are tied to each order. The platform has run in production for five years. Its data model is stable and well documented.

What's Next

  • Customer insights. The system will score churn risk, build a daily call list and flag odd patterns.
  • Reports in plain English. Staff will ask a question and get a chart, plus an Excel or PDF file.
